2. Disclaimers Specific to Main Services Website (marliteraryservices.com)
2.1 Life Coaching Services Disclaimer
Nature of Coaching: Life coaching for writers is a collaborative partnership designed to help you clarify goals, develop strategies, enhance productivity, and overcome creative obstacles. Coaching is not therapy, counseling, or mental health treatment.
Client Responsibility: The success of coaching depends on your active participation, willingness to implement strategies, honest communication, and consistent effort. We provide guidance, accountability, and support, but you are responsible for taking action and making decisions about your writing and career.
No Guarantees: We do not guarantee that coaching will result in:
- Completion of writing projects
- Improved writing skills at any specific rate
- Publication or commercial success
- Career advancement or income generation
- Resolution of personal or creative challenges
2.1.1 Service Scope and Limitations: What Life Coaching for Writers Is NOT
It is critical to understand what life coaching for writers includes and, importantly, what it does not include.
Common Misconceptions:
Many people confuse life coaching for writers with writing coaching, book coaching, or editing services. These are distinctly different professional services with different scopes and expertise.
Life Coaching for Writers:
- Focuses on the writer as a person – your mindset, habits, goals, and professional development
- Addresses productivity, motivation, accountability, and work-life balance
- Helps you overcome mental and emotional barriers to writing
- Supports career planning and strategy
- Does not involve teaching writing craft or providing technical feedback on your writing
What We Do NOT Offer:
Our life coaching services do not include:
Writing Craft or Technique:
- We do not teach plot structure, character development, dialogue, pacing, or other technical writing skills
- We do not provide instruction on “how to write” or improve your writing craft
- We do not analyze your prose quality, writing style, or technical execution
Book Coaching or Developmental Guidance:
- We do not provide guidance on your manuscript’s structure, story arc, or narrative elements
- We do not coach you through plot problems or character development issues
- We do not provide developmental feedback on your manuscript
Editing Services:
- We do not provide line editing, copyediting, developmental editing, or proofreading
- We do not correct grammar, punctuation, or spelling
- We do not rewrite or revise your work
Alpha Reading Distinction:
While we offer alpha reading services (see Section 2.2), this is separate from editing and focuses solely on reader experience:
- How engaging is the story?
- Where does pacing drag or rush?
- How do characters come across?
- What is the overall reader impact?
Alpha reading does not include technical craft feedback, line-level analysis, or editing.
Seeking the Right Professional:
If you need:
- Craft instruction → Writing coach or creative writing instructor
- Manuscript structure/story guidance → Book coach or developmental editor
- Technical editing → Professional editor (developmental, line, or copy editor)
- Genre expertise → Specialist coach or editor in your genre
Acknowledgment:
By using our life coaching services, you acknowledge that:
- You understand the scope and limitations of life coaching for writers
- You will not expect writing craft instruction, book coaching, or editing services
- You are seeking support for personal and professional development as a writer, not technical writing guidance
- Any misunderstanding of service scope does not entitle you to refunds beyond our stated refund policy
2.2 Alpha Reader Services Disclaimer
Our alpha reader feedback services provide subjective reader opinions based on personal reading experience and perspective. This feedback is intended to help you understand how a reader experiences your manuscript.
Please note:
- Alpha reading is not professional developmental editing, copyediting, proofreading, or literary critique
- Feedback provided reflects personal opinion and reading preferences
- We do not guarantee that implementing our feedback will result in publication, sales, or positive reception from other readers, agents, or publishers
- Alpha reader services do not constitute literary agent representation or endorsement
- Feedback is provided for your consideration; you retain full creative control and decision-making authority over your manuscript
- Our analysis is based on our personal reading experience and methodology, which may differ from other readers or industry professionals
Timeline Variability: Alpha reading timelines vary based on manuscript length, complexity, quality, and the writer’s specific needs. Estimated timelines range from a few days to one month and will be determined after an initial review of your materials.
2.3 Digital Products Disclaimer
All digital products (including but not limited to ebooks, guides, templates, workbooks, and downloadable resources) are non-refundable once accessed or downloaded. By purchasing digital products, you acknowledge that:
